“Tell Biggie and Pac I said ‘what up,’ cause you’re right there with them. Tell them to take care of you until we reunite again.”
Who says spamming your music on Twitter doesn’t work?
It worked for Miami pop artist AdELA, who saw MTV star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi tweeting about her music branding company, Team Snooki Music.
Yes, I said music branding company.
The pint sized princess, who shot to fame from MTV’s controversial TV show, Jersey Shore, has managed to add another claim to fame to her jam packed bio: Snooki is now, in essence, an A&R.
I asked some of her team about Snooki’s A&R skills; as a self proclaimed a music snob, I’m a little…intrigued.
“Snooki wants to pay it forward by letting talent that she selects use her platform to further their career,” said a publicist working with her and Team Snooki Music.
After AdELA contacted her through Twitter, Snooki listened to her demo; last December, AdELA found herself inking a deal.
Her EP, Off the Burner, is a mix of hip hop, pop, and the fist pumping, high energy dance music that Snooki loves.
“My music has no barriers, I make the type of music I am feeling in the moment and I pull sounds from all genres. As an artist, you have to have an open mind, a creative vision, and the will to take risks in order to build your own brand,” says the songstress.
Off the Burner features samples from Daft Punk and the 1983 Real Life hit, “Send Me An Angel,” as well as production from Grammy Award Winner StreetRunner, Vinny Venditto, and Instinctz Beats.
The first single, “Live On,” was released January 27th. It was written and co-produced by AdELA after losing a close friend.
Sure that her followers could relate, she asked them to submit pictures of lost loved ones to grace the visuals for her heartfelt song.
The video just aired, and fans were honored to see AdELA, with her angelic vocals, singing in front of a projector showing the individual pictures of their loved ones.
It’s encouraging to see an artist come into the game by building an intimate, fan centered connection.
Off the Burner will be available on iTunes on March 21, 2014.
In the meantime, check out the official video for “Live On.”
