21-year-old Leon Wilson is facing a possible sentence of 30 years
21-year-old Leon Wilson has been charged with the murder of his 42-year-old pregnant mother, Scarlett Wilson.
According to authorities, Wilson was stabbed a multiple number of times at approximately 9:45 p.m. Sunday while arguing with her son at their home in the 600 block of Jersey Avenue. The police were called to the home after another resident of the home witnessed Leon shove his mother to the ground and hearing her shout out, “No, no, no!”
Upon arrival to the scene, authorities found Leon, whose clothing was covered in blood, in possession of a bloody knife.
Though Wilson suffered from multiple stab wounds, her baby was able to be safely delivered at Cooper University Hospital. A family member revealed that Wilson was seven months along and that the baby boy was to be named Seven, according to Philly.com.
During Leon’s arraignment on Monday, assistant Camden County prosecutor Howard Gilfert noted that Leon had previously been charged with possession of a controlled substance and was known for missing court dates. Leon’s family, however, chose to focus on the good qualities they believe he possesses, stating that, “He was a good kid and he didn’t mean to do that.”
Leon could possibly be facing a 30 years to life sentence.
