Sony is in hot water! The music label is officially being sued by 19 Recordings, the company that created the hit show, American Idol, for cheating contestants out of their royalties. The lawsuit was filed on Thursday by Simon Fuller and it is being said that the royalty issue was found during two separate audits of Sony’s records.
The lawsuit states that there is at least $10 million in royalties that artists were cheated out of. The lawsuit lists Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Clay Aiken and Chris Daughtry as some of the contestants that were cheated out of their royalties.
Hopefully, they fix this sooner than later!
