Soulja Boy‘s long, slow dissent into obscurity was halted this morning, when Los Angeles Police arrested the rapper. While he has continue to make music, releasing an obscene amount of mixtapes on online, mostly through Datpiff, relatively few hip hop fans would say that they have maintained a close view on his career. Its been over a half decade since he was introduced to us with his infectious “Crank That”, or when he reminded us to never leave the house without making sure to “Turn My Swag On”. His days as a mainstay on radios and the mainstream have long been through, but he never seem particularly upset with his lot.

However, he was thrust back into the spotlight earlier today, through the tried and true gossip channel TMZ. According to the site, Police stopped the car Soulja was driving shotgun in, for a routine running a stoplight offense. When they were completing their procedure, they noticed that the rapper had a load gun on his persons and promptly arrested him. He was the taken to a nearby jail, where he has been booked.

We will keep you updated as the story continues, but as of right now this is all the information we have. This isn’t his first run in with the law, he was brought up on similar charges in 2011. He is gearing up for something, hopefully this will remind him to put his gun away.
