PrintNowadays it is very rare that you will be able to find a program for upcoming artists to help them grow their skill. But Rhymefest and his wife, Donnie Smith, are out here to help the youth and are ensuring that they do everything they can to inspire young artists to invest in their skills and dreams.

Rhymefest teamed up with Kanye West to create DONDA’s House and Rhymefest runs the program ‘Got Bars,’ under DONDA’s House. The program is for young artists between the ages of 15-24, wanting to expand their skills as an artist. The program features a creative writing class, a performance class and a health and wellness class. The program is surrounded around assisting those that get accepted to learn how to express their thoughts on paper, creatively, how to perform and overall take care of themselves. The program is an outlet for the youth and it helps keep many off the streets and out of the way of violence.

The ‘Got Bars’ program is now accepting applications until February 28th and it is definitely worth applying for it!  You can apply here. This is the second year the program is running and we are very confident that it will be as successful as it was last year. On top of that, DONDA’s House is running an Open Mic event on March 8th in Chicago for talent to display their lyrical skills.

The Source had a chance to speak with Rhymefest and Donnie Smith about ‘Got Bars’ and DONDA’s House. Check out the interview after the jump!
