Big E Langston is ready to Rumble this Sunday
Royal Rumble is one of WWE‘s biggest and most exciting PPV’s, and tomorrow at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA, the WWE and it’s Superstars will continue the tradition of the Rumble.
One of the participants of this years Royal Rumble who is coming in with a great buzz and momentum is the WWE Intercontinental Champion, Big E Langston. This will be the first time Big E appears in the 30-Superstar Match, and he’s already considered one of the favorites to win the the Rumble.
We most recently had the pleasure of chopping it up with the IC Champ before his big weekend to get his thoughts on this years Royal Rumble and his musical taste. Check out the interview below:
Tell us what will be your strategy this Sunday at the Royal Rumble?
Obviously winning is the number one goal and priority, but in a match like the Royal Rumble you always want to do something memorable, something that people will always remember – for example, Kane has the record for most the eliminations which is something people still talk about. A lot of the stuff that Kofi Kingston has done the last couple of years is memorable, so obviously the goal is to win, but also having a memorable moment out there something that I’m looking forward to.
How does it feel to have accomplished so much in the short period time you have been in the WWE main roster?
Oh, man it’s great! I got my start with Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee and I was there for Dolph when he became a World Champion so that was a cool moment for me, but there was a period after Summerslam for about a month and a half that I wasn’t really doing much – I think I was off of Raw for 6 straight weeks and it was a time in my career where I was a little worried, but I was still hungry and I felt like I had a lot more to offer. After that things picked up and winning the Intercontinental Championship was obviously the biggest moment of my career so far . For me it’s been a good start, but I’m looking forward to doing bigger and better things.
Who’s been your toughest opponent thus far? and whose somebody you looking to face in the future?
Before getting my title I would have to say CM Punk. I had some great matches with him. And since I’ve had the IC belt I would have to Curtis Axel and Fandango. As far as future concern goes, for me I’m always focused on having the best title reign that I can, and kind of bringing back that prestige to the Intercontinental Championship, so it would have to be an opponent who could give me a good test. I’m open to all challenges and anyone that is willing to step up.
Do you have a favorite Royal Rumble?
It’s always hard picking a favorite or best Royal Rumble because there were so many good ones, I tend to focus on moments, so the most recent ones have been Kofi with the chair or Kane with all those eliminations. Another moment I remember a lot was when Edge came back that was really cool.
You and CM Punk were recently joking on Twitter about the possibility of getting in a studio and recording. Do you think this would ever happen?
Yeah we were definitely joking but there seems to be a lot of positive feedback to that so who knows man – there’s a chance! If I ever run into a studio and he’s there, we might mess around and see what we can do, but that was really just Punk and I joking around on Twitter at 2AM in the morning driving from one town to another, but people seem to like the idea, so you never know.
What musical acts are you currently listening to?
I’m a huge fan of the Flatbush Zombies and Action Bronson – I listen to the Saaab Stories EP a lot. I also like Danny Brown and pretty much anything that A$AP MOB puts out – I really like that “Trillmatic” record with A$AP Nast and Method Man, the song and video is really dope and I’m also a really big fan of The Weeknd, so thats pretty much what I’m listening to now.
Since you are a Bronson fan and he’s known to be a huge wrestling fan, do you think we’ll ever see you make a cameo in one of his music videos because I can see that happen?
Yeah, I’d love to do a Bronson video! That would be really cool. We’ll just have to figure something out to make it happen, but I would totally be down for that.
Follow the IC Champ on Twitter and Instagram @BigELangston and don’t forget to catch him in action this Sunday on PPV at the Royal Rumble. More to come with Big E Langston in the near future too, so be on the look out for that.
