Carmelo Anthony made New York Knicks history last night when he scored 62-points in their win over the Charlotte Bobcats. In the feat Anthony set the record not only for the highest scoring Knick, but the most points ever scored in Madison Square Garden. The joyous moment also brought questions of how long Anthony would be in the Knicks jersey.
With the Knicks faltering and their playoff hopes in jeopardy it pushed more people to believe that Anthony would leave in free agency. While many thought the Lakers were the front runners it turns out the Bulls have taken the lead to land the superstar.

Within the past several weeks, a longtime confidant of Carmelo Anthony confesses, something changed. Never did he believe there was a chance Anthony would leave theNew York Knicks – never the Madison Square Garden stage, never the $129 million contract extension.
Only now, the gloom of the Knicks’ season – the uncertainty of the franchise’s future – left that man to believe it’s possible Anthony could leave New York in free agency.
“Chicago is much more in play for him than L.A.,” the source said.
The Bulls traded Luol Deng for draft picks and are leaning strongly toward using the amnesty provision on Carlos Boozer. They could create a maximum contract slot for Anthony, pairing him with Derrick Rose.
There is some downside to the Chicago Bulls. After two serious knee injuries there’s uncertainty surrounding Derrick Rose. No one knows if he’ll return to an MVP caliber player. The Bulls would also be cash strapped if they add Anthony. The team has been known to drop talented players because of money.
In the end the money and adoration is much higher in New York but Chicago might give him a better chance of winning. Anthony has a big decision ahead of him.
