The legendary E-40 recently took some time out of his busy schedule, while on a press grind promoting his new albums (that’s right, albums, as in three), to chop it up with us here at The Source.
For the better part of 25 years the Bay Area’s E-40 has been a staple in hip hop culture, holding down and representing West Coast rap music alongside the likes of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Tupac Shakur.
The man is known as a true innovator, creating a slang (often credited to those including Snoop Dogg and Nelly) that’s opened doors to new realms of the English language – and in a more musical sense, new rhyme schemes and ways in which to express otherwise unexplainable actions and feelings.
His new albums, The Block Brochure: Welcome To The Soil 4, 5, & 6, are nothing short of engaging and imaginative. They continue to grasp the attention of the listener – an audience that is more indecisive and influenced by mediocre music than arguably ever before. E-40′s signature sound, amidst all of the notable features on the project, is without-a-doubt the glue that holds the overall project together.
Peep the full interview below and make sure to go out and cop his newest releases here. Also, check out 40′s newest line of wine’s (which we had the pleasure of trying when he stopped by) at earlstevensselections.com.
