The Source Magazine was on the red carpet for the The 2014 MusiCares Person of the Year gala presented by Degree Women Los Angeles Convention Center. 

What was it important for you to come support MusiCares?

MC Lyte: Well first off what MusicCares does is just unprecedented. I don’t know of another organization that you could call up as a musician if your house has just burned down to the ground that will help you so that’s one. But two it’s Carole king, I grew up listening to Carole King and later on in life I got a chance to sit in her home and write a song with her. So tonight to come and support her and celebrate with her it’s being with family, so I’m excited for her.

Do you have a fond Grammy memory?

MC Lyte: The performances that happen at the Grammys are just phenomenal. So I’m waiting to see who they put with who because I like the mixing of the genres and as well as the eras. So I’m excited.

What can you tell us about your new reality show?

Not much. I don’t think I’m supposed to give up to much about that. But I’m excited of course we have Rage, Monie Love, MC smooth, Yo-Yo and our little protégé Lil Mama, so I’m excited.
