Check out our video interview with Emeli Sande:

Q: How did you get involved with the “Gatsby” soundtrack?

Emeli Sande: Well, I was asked to come and see if I’d be interested in performing “Crazy in Love,” do my own interpretation. And, you know, to be asked to be involved in a project like this is a big, big honor. So, I had a lot of fun.

Q: What do you admire about Jay-Z?

Emeli Sande: I love Jay-Z. I mean, he’s just the boss, you know? He really understands—and not just hip hop music, but the business, and I think that has to be admired.

Q: Do you have a message for your fans?

Emeli Sande: Well, I just want to say hey to all the fans in the States. This is my beginning of a new journey here, so I’m excited to bring my music and I get to know everyone better.
