The Source Magazine caught up with “Anchorman 2′ star Will Ferrell on the red carpet for the film’s New York premiere. He talked to us about working with Kanye West (who makes a highly buzzworthy cameo in the film) and he also spoke about working with Meagan Good and collaborating with Robin Thicke “Ride Like The Wind,” for the film’s soundtrack.
Can you speak about working with Kanye West?
You know that was really fascinating because he came on our set and was exactly the antithesis of what you think he’d be. He’s such a fan of comedy. He was almost reverential and quiet around us and he stayed for two days when we shot him out immediately and he wanted to hang around the whole time, but he’s kind of the most prolific creative person I’ve ever been around because while he was off set, he was on the phone talking about a photo shoot, he was writing down new lyrics for another thing…his mind, I think, is constantly working.
Would you work with Kanye West again?
Sure! Yeah!
What was it like working with Meagan Good?
I loved working with Megan Good! We had auditioned a lot of actresses for the role and we were really having trouble and then Meagan came at the last second and stepped right in and is kind of the exact personality we needed to Linda Jackson who’s the team’s new boss and she’s a great actress took to the improv like that and is obviously stunningly beautiful, so she was perfect.
How did your musical collaboration with Robin Thicke come about?
That was an idea that I think Paramount Music had. We have Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind” is a big song at the top of the movie and the idea came to record it with re-record it with Robin Thicke and Ron Burgundy. It’s just I think another little aspect to the promotion of this movie and it kind of shows how excited Paramount got about this
“Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” is now playing.
