It looks like the wait will soon be over for fans anticipating a new video from Eminem
This weekend, the rapper annouced that renowned film director Spike Lee would be directing the visuals of the emotionally charged ” Headlights” single. On Saturday Eminem tweeted, ” Spike Lee came out to the D for the “Headlights” video, coming soon.” Minutes later, Spike Lee also tweeted ” Detroits Finest EMINEM And Me Working Together On His Short Film.Historic. Who Woulda Thunk It.”
The song ” Headlights” is a heartfelt apology dedicated to the rapper’s mother Debbie Mathers, whom he has insulted in many of his previous songs, most notably his 2002 hit ” Cleaning Out My Closet.”In “Headlights” Em raps ” In what verse, my mom probably got it the worst/the brunt of it/But as stubborn as we are/ did I take too far/” Cleaning Out My Closet”. The song, which also covers difficult occurences within the Mathers’ family’s tumultous relationship, is perhaps best fitting for director Spike Lee, known for his controversial and politically charged films such as Do The Right Thing & She’s Gotta Have it. The video, which has been referred to as a “short film” is being filmed in the rapper’s hometown, Detroit.
“Headlights” features Fun lead vocalist Nate Ruess and is the fifth single off Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP2 album. Eminem also recently shared a behind the scenes clip for another upcoming video off the album “The Monster” featuring Rihanna.
