Cardinals eliminate Dodgers in winner take all Game 5
The Pittsburgh Pirates historic season has come to an end at the hands of Adam Wainwright. The Cardinals ace went all the way to the 9th inning giving up one run in a 6-1 victory.
Following the game Wainwright said he was suffering a case of the nerves thanks to last year’s Game 5 against the Nationals. Ultimately Wainwright just wanted to prove that he was a good postseason pitcher and he did that last night.
Pirates’ pitcher Gerrit Cole made one mistake that not only costed his team a loss but it may be costly for the Dodgers as well. Gerrit Cole gave up a two run home run to one of the Cardinals most valuable players; David Freese. Freese was batting 0-9 in the last three NLDS game.
The Cardinals will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS starting Friday October 11th. On the mound for the Dodgers will be Zach Grienke and as for the Cardinals it will be Lance Lynn.
