Someone is totally ripping from Pennywise.
The mystery clown, who has been terrorizing Staten Islanders for the past week, is being linked to a publicity stunt. Residents have spotted the Staten Island Clown waving eerily in various locations—on the side of the road, from under passes, and recently from the stage of a play at Monsignor Farrell High School.
The New York Post report Tuesday that the three men—Vincent Innocente, Robert Privitera and Michael Leavy— who posted photographs of the clown on Instagram are all tied to the same Staten Island based horror movie production company, Fuzz On The Lens. The men were the only ones to have photographic evidence of the clown. However, the production company Twitter post Tuesday, “Kinda insulted by all these #SIClown accusations…we’re not just a “horror film company.” We’re funny too…I swear. #WeCanProveIt.”
Then there was speculation that New York comedian Vic DiBitetto, who is also involved with Fuzz on the Lens, was involved in the shenanigan after uploading a video of the clown . However, DiBitetto denied any connection in an interview with New Jersey radio station 101.5.
This isn’t the first time someone has performed a publicity stunt using a clown. Last year, an aspiring filmmaker began terrorizing Northampton, UK residents.
