Third time’s a charm, right?
In discussing hip-hop cliques, groups and entourages, while Black Hippy, G.O.O.D. Music & Slaughterhouse have provided hip-hop purists with prototype examples of what it is to rap in unison with more than one collaborator on a consistent basis, MMG has distanced themselves from the traditional image of a rap crew. They’ve become a music enterprise and have come very far from where they were 3 years ago, adding the alternatively-paced Stalley, pop/r&b staple Omarion, Chicago spitkicker Rockie Fresh & one of Rick Ross‘ earliest collaborators, the recklessly raw and unapologetic Gunplay to a roster already stacked with Billboard 200 #1 artists Wale, Meek Mill, and the emperor-like, perennial champion of the culture Rick Ross‘;. Self Made 3 will attempt to widen the reach of the effervescent group, expanding on the bar-for-bar prowess they went for on 2011′s Self Made, and the ambitious songwriting Self Made 2 exhibited. Sporting the summer singles “Poor Decisions”, “Oil Money Gang” and Rockie Fresh’s solo effort “God Is Great”, there’s more to be excited about on SF3, and with the official stream of the album, you can listen for yourself.
