Just in case the Diddy NYU classes weren’t enough.
If you think your liberal arts education was lacking, perhaps you should consider taking some sociology classes on Miley Cyrus at Skidmore College this summer. Buzzfeed reports that the upstate New York institution is offering summer courses studying the singer to serve as a “lens” into gender, race, class and media issues.
The syllabus reads, “She (Miley Cyrus) provides rich examples for analyzing aspects of intersectional identities and media representations.”
The course will be led by visiting assistant professor of sociology Carolyn Chernoff. It’s the seventh class she’s taught at the college. Past courses have included Youth Culture In and Out of School, High School Onscreen, and Cultures of Resistance, according to her academic page. The Amherst College and University of Pennsylvania grad is also cofounder of the art organization The Girl’s DJ Collective.
Who knew all the rampant twerking would add to academia?
