Swiss chalk artist Leon Kerr took to the front of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EFPL) in Switzerland to create an awesome anamorphic (3D) art piece. Taking six days to complete, the artist designed a piece, 150 square meters in size, which pays homage to the 70′s shoot ‘em up arcade game, “Space Invader” for the campus’ Art of Science” project. The piece was drawn so skillfully that from many angles it’s hard to discern that it is only a 2-dimensional piece.  In fact, an aerial view of the piece is the perfect angle to give the art’s true illusion of depth, making it one of the most visually striking anamorphic art pieces we’ve seen.

Kerr’s Space Invaders piece will be on display until April 10th. Enjoy some of the behind the scenes photos that went into creating it in the gallery below.
