So now there’s a discussion amongst artists and journalists (hi Miss Info) that the SXSW festival, widely known for its interactive, film and of course music side is becoming a festival more so for corporate companies and taking away from the idea of it. If you were able to visit before such chatter, you may have discovered a new artist, independent films and various ways to market. But now you have huge acts like JayZ, Kanye West and 50 Cent making it a priority to be there. What are writers going to give back to their editors to report? Are we going to hang in the towel to recap the favorite songs performed?
Yes but also, here at The Source, we’ll be giving you an experience to what we witnessed. Something a bit different from the norm of SXSW this year, we took a 14 hour journey by mini-van to Austin, Texas. Through the blizzard of snow to the laptop flying off the roof to the ultimate house party two days in a row, we might have missed the corporate shenanigans. Make no mistake we had fun with the great people at Nice Kicks and watched a load of performances. But the most captivating of all during SXSW was the journey there and a unexpected two-day party via Plane Clothes & Co. in the hills of Austin, Texas.
Check out how we traveled cross country and got great footage the nostalgia way…the good ole’ Polaroid Camera.
