Top Dawg wasn’t playing it seems
SZA is electro-soul, hip-hop, and R&B’s mystifying, young, refreshing frontier pusher, and this year, she’s joining the rest of her Top Dawg Entertainment cast members in releasing a body of work. At the beginning of the year, Anthony Tiffith–CEO of TDE, and better known as Top Dawg–announced his camp would be putting out 6 albums this year. January brought the TDE debut of newcomer Isaiah Rashad (Cilvia Demo), and February came with the drop of ScHoolboy Q‘s highly anticipated proper debut album, Oxymoron, which is currently the number one album in the country (Rick Ross‘ Mastermind is expected to upend that come Wednesday). March will appear to be a quiet one for TDE, but April will apparently bring a third TDE album for 2014, SZA‘s Z.
With “Teen Spirit”–which was randomly and effectively remixed by 50 Cent–becoming a quick fan favorite and the newly released “Babylon” song and video already sitting well with fans and critics alike, it appears Z will be much more than another hyped TDE release. 2012′s See.SZA.Run put the Jersey crooner on the map, Z may catapult her into fledgling stardom. She announced the April 8th release date and revealed the intriguing artwork for the project on Twitter.
