Bucs release Josh Freeman
The Josh Freeman saga in Tampa Bay has come to a close. After benching, fining, and looking to trade Freeman the Buccaneers had no choice to release him. A shaky start to the season eventually led to a rift between Freeman and head coach Greg Schiano.
Freeman who was drafted 17th in the 2009 NFL draft was benched this year in favor of rookie Mike Glennon. Freeman was also fined twice this season by the Bucs for detrimental conduct to the team. He is set to appeal both fines.
One of the reasons why the Bucs were unable to trade Freeman was because of his contract. Due to the release the Bucs will now have to pay Freeman his $6.2 million for the season.
