Terrence Howard cast as leading role in Lee Daniels’ and Danny Strong’s Empire
Terrence Howard has been cast as the leading role in Lee Daniels and Danny Strong’s hip-hop, family drama Empire.
Howard is set to play the role of record label executive Lucious Lyon, whose character is said to be “charismatic, tough, wise and a superstar in the music industry who oversees Empire Entertainment and is about to take the company public. Raised on the streets, he has never backed away from a fight and will resort to any measures, fair or foul, to defend his beloved Empire,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Both Lee Daniels and Danny Strong are the masterminds behind the critically-acclaimed historical fiction drama film, The Butler.
The role of Lyons serves as Howard’s latest television role at Fox since joining Wayward Pines, the event series that is set to premiere in July.
There is currently no word on when Empire will make its debut.
