Apparently NY thinks that you absolutely must text … so they are creating Text Stops like Rest Stops along highways. They will be safe places you can pull over to send Text messages. Granted distracted driving is extremely dangerous. One out of 5 accidents today is attributable to distracted driving. There are five times more fatalities from distracted driving than from drunk driving. But instead of wasting money providing places for people to stop to text just keep telling them to STOP TEXTING while driving- give them tickets when they get caught and points on their license- they will stop. It’s really simple. If a driver is inconsiderate enough to risk his life and those of his fellow drivers by texting while driving what makes officials think they will bother to pull over to text?
