The secret is out?

Calling all remaining Lil Wayne fans! It looks like Weezy is following Beyoncé’s lead by dropping his fifth installment of Tha Carter with no announcement. In a recent interview with The Griffen, Cash Money Records’ VP of Promotion Mel Smith claimed that the album is almost done and will be releasing soon but with no set date.

“We’re very close to dropping the album,” said Smith. “It’s going to be a huge surprise to everyone, it’s an incredible album … I can’t release the date because he wants to surprise people, he wants his true fan base to get excited but he’s worked extremely hard on it and you won’t be disappointed.”

He also said that the album has no ties to the rock/pop sound Wayne has attempted in the past. Tha Carter V is said to come “Straight from New Orleans”. With that kind of bold statement, Lil Wayne might be able to make a serious comeback from his previous, commercial material. If he’s falling back on his roots, this album has the possibility of ranking above the entire series. Let the hype begin.
