Over the past two days, a New York Post story that accused Jay Z of wearing a piece of “bling” that could be interpreted to mean “whites are the devil” has stirred up a considerable amount of controversy on both the internet and the media. The chain is associated with The Five Percent Nation and its teachings, and Jay Z isn’t the only prominent New Yorker that’s been seen wearing it recently (Carmelo Anthony was also photographed with the chain around his neck while he was out wit his wife, Lala Anthony).

Black people are the fathers and mothers of civilization, white men are the devil, the Christian god is nothing more than a ghost and only a small percentage of people understand the world.
These are just some of the ­beliefs behind the bling — the gaudy Five Percent Nation ­medallions worn by Jay Z and Carmelo Anthony.

Everyone from casual fans of both Jay Z & Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony to concerned interest groups and five-percenters themselves have argued their case on the situation over the past 48 hours, but The Breakfast Club took a unique approach, choosing to re-purpose a snippet of Jay Z’s interview with them as he was on his Magna Carta Holy Grail press run last summer.
