Jay Z might want to get President Obama on the text, that’s if he cares enough, because Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee are looking to halt his G4.

A spending bill was approved last Wednesday that would enforce tighter travel restrictions to Cuba, as a result of Jay-Z and Beyonce‘s trip in April.

“This is the Jay Z, Beyonce Bill,” Rep. Jose Serrano, a member of the House Appropriations Committee who is in opposition. Serrano, a Democrat from New York wants to see an increase of Americana tourism in Cuba, without a doubt believes it is a “response to the trip by Beyonce and Jay Z.”

However, his Republican counterparts including Subcommittee Chairman Ander Crenshaw of Florida believes otherwise.

He describes the trip as “an example of how the guidelines are not being enforced.” He went on to say, “I think that if we’re going to say that we have this policy in place that relates to travel in Cuba that it ought to be enforced and that becomes a grey area where they’re probably not really following the guidelines.”

Despite getting the okay from the U.S. Department of Treasury, the trip was controversial, with many feeling that the power couple were in support of Communism. Jay Z responded to the backlash with the song “Open Letter.”

Travel to Cuba would only be approved for academic motives.
