For the past 20 years, Howard University has held the largest celebrations out of any school in the DC area in honor of their homecoming week. From educational events like their Entertainment Power Summit to their unity events such as their Greek Step Show, the private HBCU has shown out for every event including their highly-anticipated annual event, Yard Fest.
This year’s Yard Fest stood out from the rest. Not only was it the first time the university charged students and alumni for admission, but it was also the first time homecoming’s main event was compared to a festival like Jay Z’s ”Made In America.” Although there was chaos amongst those behind gates at Yard Fest, homecoming as a whole proved to be a success but in the words of some alumni, it will never be the same.
Here are the best moments from homecoming 2013 that we experienced at Howard University.
