Prosecutors continue to allege that Tim Dog faked his death

Over the past few days, rumors and speculation have swirled around The Source after the reported death of BX rapper Tim Dog. As it was originally reported by The Source and several other news sources, Timothy Blair, a.k.a. Tim Dog, died from complications after a diabetic seizure on February 14, 2013.

It didn’t take long before eyebrows were raised and people began questioning the validity of Tim’s passing. No death certificate, hospital records, or even an obituary have been recovered to confirm the death. The story immediately began to pick up speed once the media and law enforcement began to accuse Blair of faking his death in order to avoid paying restitution to victims of an online scam, restitution that has been claimed to be in excess of $2 million. The post about Blair’s death on TheSource.com that was cited by several major news sources has been erroneously reported as being deliberately removed in order to cover up the allegedly false news. The website relaunched with a new design only weeks following the report of Tim Dog’s death and all of the content from the previous site had been removed.

Steven Jubera, the prosecutor in the case against the rapper known for his inflammatory East vs. West song “F**k Compton,” issued a warrant yesterday for Blair, alleging that he is in contempt of court.

In August of 2011, Tim Dog pled guilty to grand larceny charges in Mississippi in an online/long-distance relationship scam that took Esther Pilgrim for $32,000. In a plea agreement, Blair was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay Pilgrim back $19,000 of the money. Pilgrim admits that Blair maintained his payments before his reported death.

A family member of Tim Dog insists that the rapper did indeed meet his demise. Tim’s cousin, who refused to be identified in a telephone interview with The Source, still contends that Blair is dead and that the subsequent media circus is offensive to the family.

“From the beginning, we just wanted a quiet thing. We didn’t want all this media attention,” says the son of Tim’s mother’s brother, who would only speak on condition of anonymity. “Me being his cousin, with Tim’s brother and sisters, I didn’t want to overstep my boundaries if they felt one way and then I felt another,” says Tim’s first cousin about revealing certain details regarding the reported death. “That’s their sibling. That’s their brother. For me to go against them, that’s causing strife between me and my family. I’ve went to them and tried to talk to them. As much as we don’t want to be in the media, silence is making more noise.”

Claiming religious reasons as a justification for their shunning of the press, the cousin of Timothy Blair says that the family prefers to mourn in private.

“What’s going to happen after this is this prosecutor or this investigator obviously is not doing a good job because just like he wants us to prove that [Tim’s] dead, it’s his job to prove that he’s alive.”
