The Toronto Raptors have ripped a page right out of the Brooklyn Nets book. Just as Jay Z rebranded the Nets last year it seems that Drake will aim to do the same for the Raptors.

Drake was recently named as an Toronto Raptors Executive by the NBA. The announcement was made by Toronto mayor Rob Ford who is working with the team for the 2014-2015. This announcement comes with the news that the Raptors will also be hosting the 2016 NBA All-Star Game.

The Toronto Star issued an explanation in regards to Drake’s role with the team;

The hip-hop star will also launch a clothing line in conjunction with the team. Most intriguingly, he is being asked to consult on a complete redesign of the club’s image to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the franchise in the 2014-15 season.

Going forward, this will be more than a business arrangement.

It would be wrong to call what comes next a renaissance. That would imply that the Raptors have a legacy to build on. After 18 years, all they have is one playoff series win and Vinsanity to draw from. That’s it.

It’s within Drake’s power to change that.

The rapper is staying busy as he released the video for his hit single, “Hold On We’re Going Home” and is continuing to promote his album Nothing Was The Same.

What do you think of this move by the Toronto Raptors
