‘The Scarlet Letter’ by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a grim, depressing piece of literature that teachers wanted you to read and Cliff’s Notes saved you from.

The red letter ‘A’ that Hester Prynne is made to wear is more than just something to signify her alleged sin. It also becomes a beacon to others in testament to her supportive nature. And a mark to remind others of their hypocrisy. There’s more to this, of course, but that’s not for us to say.
