An unfortunate event took place last night at South By Southwest, in Austin, Texas. The annual event that draws thousands to Texas’ capital to watch hundreds of artists perform, mingle with their favorite celebrities, and find out what is going to be hot in the coming year, is typically associated with a good time and great food. However, for some families, fans, and bystanders it will forever be marred in their memory of the scene yesterday evening, when a car plowed through a group of pedestrians.

The driver drove through temporary barricades, in an attempt to evade the police chasing after him. According to Reutershe was driving the opposite direction on a one way street that had been marked off for a Tyler, the Creator performance, at a popular bar. Driving in a grey Sedan, the motorist mowed down a number of concert goers, injuring 23 and tragically killing 2. At least five of those hurt are currently in critical condition at the moment.

After doing the damage, the driver stopped his car and tried to run away on foot; thankfully, the cops caught the criminal and subdued him. He is currently facing the possibility of being charged with capital murder and aggravated assault.

Tyler shared a few words about the incident, voicing his condolences and sadness about what took place. Our thoughts go out to all those hurt and to the families who have lost loved ones.
