Trayvon Martin’s name has been on the minds of everyone as of late and some people are in the works of making sure that he is never forgotten.

The Smithsonian Museum based in Washington D.C. is planning a new division within its walls dedicated to history of African Americans. The new portion is entitled “The National Museum of African American History and Culture” and according to Smithsonian director Lonnie Bunch, will be featuring the sweatshirt that Trayvon Martin was wearing when he was fatally shot my George Zimmerman.

According to the Washington Post, Bunch was quoted as saying:
It became the symbolic way to talk about the Trayvon Martin case. It’s rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol.

Currently the sweatshirt is still in evidence at The Department of Justice as people across the U.S. await to here if George Zimmerman will be charged on a federal level of violating Trayvon Martin’s civil rights. The National Museum of African American History and Culture is planned to open in 2015 in Washington D.C.
