The first quarter Nielsen SoundScan numbers are in and just as suspected, last year’s declining digital download trend has continued well into 2014.
With online streaming becoming such a huge trend, music lovers are downloading less.
Reports say that digital sales have gone down another 13.3 percent.
More specifically, digital track sales are down 12.5 percent, from 356.5 million to 312 million and digital album sales went down 14.2 percent, from 32.4 million to 27.8 million.
EDM seems to be the only genre unaffected by the decline. In fact, electronica was the only genre to see an increase in sales.
