Their names are Jarad Dawkins and Malcolm Brickhouse. They are from Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. And they come to rock.
They may not know this, but the rock is in their blood. It’s hard to know this without research, but people that looked like them started rock in the early 1900’s. Just ask Little Richard, Ray Charles and Chuck Berry. The rock tradition evolved from the gospel, blues and R&B sounds of the American South thanks to those gentlemen.
Even though rock is mainly dominated by white artists and performers, there have been several bands featuring black artists to make their mark. From punk band Bad Brains to the eccentric alternative rock band Fishbone all the way to metal band Living Colour, Black Americans (and Brits) have shown they can rock with the best of ‘em.
Jarad and Malcolm felt the call of metal and started writing songs together after meeting at a birthday party. Since then they’ve earned enough attention to have this documentary filmed about them.
