Tyler Perry’s films generally do well at the box offices but that wasn’t the case of his latest Single Moms Club.
Single Moms Club opened this weekend with $8.3 million at No. 5.
“This is one of Tyler Perry’s lowest debuts ever, but he cranks out hits every year for almost decade,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak. “He’s allowed a couple of missteps every once in a while.”
The film follows five struggling single mothers as they form a sisterhood after setting aside their differences and starting a support group.
Single Moms Club stars Nia Long and Amy Smart.
