chris brownThe Associated Press reports that Chris Brown has been taken into custody by U.S. marshals, who will then transport the “Loyal” singer to Washington, D.C. for trial.

Marshals’ spokeswoman Laura Vega says Brown was turned over to marshals Wednesday at a Los Angeles jail.

Brown faces trial following accusations that he hit a man outside a D.C. hotel in October.

“It is the most expeditious and convenient method for all parties,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin said.

Earlier this week, Brown’s attorney attempted to block Brown’s transfer in the custody of marshals. He argued that his client would be deprived of a chance to properly prepare for the trial.
