Taking a new approach to the iconic Authentic aesthetic, Vans and DQM prepare the HBT pack exclusively for The Vans DQM General this holiday season. A military-inspired material palette and intricate detailing characterize this forthcoming three-piece assortment.

In World War II, the Herringbone Twill (HBT) uniform was issued. Made of 8.2-ounce heavy cotton herringbone twill cloth, the uniform consisted of an OD shirt, trousers, and a circular-billed cotton utility hat. It was initially meant to be worn over the basic wool uniform to provide protection, but soon proved to be a much better material as the primary uniform for hot weather and tropical climates. The Marine Corps also adopted a version of the HBT utility uniform for combat and training duties.

The design concept for this collaboration was to take design cues from WWII HBT and give them a twist. Utilizing a unique enzyme treatment created specifically for this project, Vans and DQM created a subtle camouflage pattern using the highs and lows produced by the process. The treated canvas was applied to the Authentic silhouette for Jungle, Desert and Ocean colorways. Premium finishing accents include saltwater patina washed eyelets, leather laces, pigskin flag labels and Vans DQM branding at the insole and heel tab. Each iteration of the HBT Authentic will retail for $85 and releases November 15 at The Vans DQM General’s New York, Boston and online stores.
