Waka Flocka seeks peace in anti- violence concert in Chicago this summer.
When triple platinum artist Waka Flocka Flame’s name comes up in conversation, it’s usually accompanied by the phrase “No Hands”, and some kind of dancing motion. Well, after June 2013, his name will also be synonymous with social activism. Waka is getting together with Wallace Gator Bradley and United In Peace, INC. to host the upcoming anti-violence concert in Chicago (the venue is still undisclosed). The valiant purpose of the United In Peace, INC concert is to help spread awareness about the senseless violent shootings and murders that have recently taken place in the windy city.
Waka Flocka has fallen victim to negative press about his involvement in the movement. However, he humbly defends his collaboration with United In Peace, INC by stating, “senseless acts of violence is happening all over the world but it starts with us acknowledging the acts know. Chicago is the first but not the last for me”. The rapper is extremely appreciative for the opportunity and says that he will continue to fight for non-violence in the beautiful city of Chicago.
In defense of Waka’s choice to be a part of the concert, the foundation’s president, Wallace Gator Bradley states, “To GOD be the GLORY, for touching Waka’s heart and allowing him to reach out and working with me and Noble – Ameer Ali, Executive Director of United In Peace, Inc, in our efforts to turn the tide on senseless shootings and silling across America in general but in the African-American communities in particular, especially Chicago.”
United In Peace, INC. will receive all of the proceeds from the concert. The foundation’s ultimate goal is to tour the 4 high schools (Phillips, Du Sable, Fenger and Harper), Chicago State University in Chicago and Washington Elementary School in Riverdale, Illinois.
We here at The Source commend Waka Flocka for his involvement in the positive movement that United In Peace, INC. is supporting against the violence in Chi-town. Kudos, and peace.
