The MMG “capo” drops some necessary knowledge on this episode of The Combat Jack Show.
Say what you want about Wale. He doesn’t want to hear it. After building up a buzz bigger than his hometown if D.C., the DMv native put out his highly anticipated debut album on Interscope Records, Attention Deficit, to critical acclaim, but commercial failure. Missing the 100k mark by about 70,000 copies, Folarin was promptly “dropped” by the label, and left to fend for himself. Most thought he would fade into the background like many before him, but undeterred, Wale struck a deal with MMG a few months later and the rest is history. A gold certification, Grammy nomination, and numerous #1 records later, there’s no denying Wale’s hold on the game is firm and unlikely to budge. He understand the industry, the politics, and most importantly, the way to the hearts of fans. The business of it all often proves to be the ugly side, which he previews in just over 6 minutes with the Combat Jack Show crew. Definitely a must-watch. Check it out HERE.
