Back in 1994, the music of Tupac Shakur was circulating around the globe. Not only was he becoming one of the most well-known rappers of all time, but he was also building his acting career with his supporting roles in Poetic Justice and Above The Rim.

In March 1994, Entertainment Weekly’s Benjamin Svetkey sat down and chopped it up with Tupac about Life & Death. Pac spoke on his problems with the media, his underlying respect for our government and his ultimate vision of Thug Life.

“I believe that God wants me to do something and it has to do with Thug Life,” said Shakur.

The never-before-heard interview is revived in an animated short film by Blank on Blank, a company headed by David Gerlach that transforms lost audio interviews with cultural icons into an animated YouTube series for PBS Digital Studios. Watch as the cartoon cleverly matches up to Tupac’s words regarding his progressing acting career, his supposed rape allegations during that time, and more.
