Chance the Rapper releases a trippy sincere video for his latest single
Chance the Rapper, the young Chicago rapper, released his sophomore mixtape–Acid Rap–only three months ago, but it has blown up online. It has been garnered a lot of praise by fans and critics alike. Today, Chance drops the visuals for one of the more popular songs off the tape: “Everybody’s Something.”
The Austin Vesely directed video, finds the rapper superimposed on top of a series of images that reference his lines. At some points its trippy-playing on the acid theme of the tape in general-at other times it cripplingly sincere. Having Chance face the camera for majority of the video is incredibly powerful; its almost as if he is reassuring listeners that things will get better. I’m sure the video contains many hidden images, that will require us to watch it over and over again.
