Kendrick Lamar returns to his neck of the woods in his new video
It has been a little over a year since hip-hop’s most talked about wordsmith, Kendrick Lamar, blessed the world with his critically-acclaimed major label debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city.
Of all of the tracks on the album, bonus tracks included, there was one track that happened to be the most sentimental of them all. The Sounwave and Skhye Hutch-produced “Sing About Me.”
Throughout the song, Lamar finds himself opening up about the life he experienced as a youth growing up in the gang-ridden city of Compton.
The black-and-white Darren Romanelli-directed visual shows Lamar being driven around his hometown, taking in his surroundings almost as if he’s perceiving it all through the eyes of a tourist. London artist Eddie Peake is seen working on an art piece that correlates with “Sing About Me.”
Luckily for us, this is only part one. Part two of the series is expected to drop some time next month, so be on the look out for it.
