We’re not done with ‘The Gifted’.
Despite Self Made 3 debuting in the top 5 on the Billboard 200 last week, and Rick Ross prepping his upcoming Mastermind album, Wale‘s team is not done rolling out the music videos for his own chart-topping LP, The Gifted, which was released this past June. “Simple Man”, the 13th song on the album, which Wale himself co-produced, is the 6th of The Gifted‘s cuts to get a music video. Shot entirely in Toronto, the music video depicts Wale to be exactly what the title suggests: a simple man. Dressed in street clothes and donning a snakeskin Miami Heat snap-back at times, Wale trots around the Canadian city with the bounce of a rejuvenated artist, often getting caught up in his own absurd limb motions as he attempts to keep up with his quickly vacillating flows. Drake and J. Cole make unexpected cameos, which serve as the highlight of the video, as the three rappers sit together in a studio smoking and talking among themselves. As all three artist have dropped chart-topping junior albums this year (the exception being J. Cole, whose sophomore album Born Sinner hit #1 on the Billboard 200 in its second week on shelves) its easy to see the magnitude of a snapshot like that growing exponentially in the coming years.
