During the NBA Finals Tiago Splitter took a pass from Tony Parker like he’d done so many times before. For Tiago it was a chance to try and rejuvenate his San Antonio Spurs into a comeback win to force the Miami Heat to fight for their survival in the series. So when he took that pass, he was already thinking two points. Posterizing Lebron James would be the bonus.
However, that’s not how it happened. Lebron James stopped Tiago Splitter in his tracks mid-monster-dunk with power that a man jumping straight up in the air should not have. Miami recovered the ball, scored and added yet another massive bookmark on the highlight reel that is Lebron James’ career.
White men know that when they play black guys they could get dunked on. They could get blocked. It doesn’t mean that they can’t play. Doesn’t mean that they have to say beyond the 3-point line to get their points. It means that they have to compete in the same manner.

No one knew his name until a few days ago when a video of him dunking over a taller, blacker defender went ‘round the world and back again. Christian Terrell is 6’2”. Christian Terrell is a shooting guard. But he exploded with power that overwhelmed and dropped his defender.
Wherever his career goes from here he’ll always have that moment for the grandkids.
