Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am Sues Pharrell’s Brand ‘i am OTHER.”
Not sure what sparked Will.i.am’s desire to take legal action against Pharrell after letting years pass as Pharrell successfully developed and marketed his brand “i am OTHER,” which Will.i.am aims to sue.
According to legal documents referenced in Rolling Stone, will.i.am cited that Pharrell’s logo (get logo pic) is “confusingly similar” to his own “I AM” trademarked products. The document stated, “The registration of the mark…is likely to dilute the I AM mark and the WILL.I.AM mark.”
Will.i.am claims to own the copyright to the phrase ‘I Am’ in which Pharrell stated to meritless. Pharrell released a statement in regards to Will.i.am’s actions.
Pharrell stated, “I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will’s trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do.”
Do you think will.i.am has the right to defend his brand or has his time to pursue legal action passed?
