Even as a multi-milion dollar blockbuster franchise, Michael Bay‘s “Transformers” films are considered by many to be one of the worst cinematic phenomena of the past decade. Personally, the focus on boring human characters, bad slapstick comedy, and a lowest common denominator screenplay turned me off.

It seems that Bay is going for a top-down revision with “Age of Extinction,” the fourth entry in the series and the first not to feature series regular Shia LaBeouf. Part reboot and part continuation, the teaser for “Extinction” is hinting at the robots in disguise having gone into hiding or exile before being coaxed out by the DinoBots. The action looks better, Mark Wahlberg is a decent choice for a human POV character, and Optimus Prime bashes a robot dinosaur in the face with a shield. Check out the trailer below.
