Last night Wiz Khalifa’s uncle, Imani Porter, was pronounced dead upon arrival to the hospital after a fatal shot to the head.
Wiz Khalifa mourned over Twitter today saying “My uncle was younger and more level headed than all of us. I would have never seen this happening in a million years”.
Reports suggest that 20 year old Porter was shot while outside of the Steak ‘N Shake at the Waterfront in Pittsburgh, PA. The incident took place roughly around 8PM and after being shot Porter was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Upon searching Porter’s vehicle, police claim to have allegedly found an unannounced amount of heroin. The following statement was released by the police in regards to the murder,
“Through the course of the investigation we determined that the victim was seated in the front seat of a Chevrolet Impala when he was shot. Two black males were seen fleeing the Impala and leaving the area in what was described as a white Pontiac, possibly a Bonneville. Suspected narcotics were found in and around the Impala possibly indicting that robbery was the motive for the shooting.”
Wiz went on to tweet tweeted last night, “God has a plan #RestWithGodImani”
Well it looked like a plan was put into effect when 17-year-old Jaron Young turned himself in for the murder of Wiz Khalifa’s uncle this morning. Young turned himself in after his mother Ronnica Sanders convinced him. According to Sanders “It was the right thing to do. I didn’t raise my kid to be in the street. I didn’t. I raised him to be a respectable young man in the community.” Reports suggest that Young will be tried as an adult depite his age and is facing charges of homicide, robbery, weapons, and conspiracy.
While police still investigate the murder for intent, motive and the other man involved in the crime, they believe Young initially wanted to purchase heroine from Porter. His mother says “You have to have money to buy heroin. He didn’t have no money.”
On behalf of The Source we’d like to offer our condolences to Wiz Khalifa and his family.
