Did somebody sneak an NBA Jam arcade game in the Nets locker room to motivate Joe Johnson before last nights game against the Philadelphia 76ers?
The kid was on fire!
The only Net to suit up for all 24 games this season, Johnson scored 29 points in the 3rd quarter and made eight 3-pointers in the third quarter, a record set by former Milwaukee Buck Michael Redd on February 20, 2002 against the Houston Rockets.
Deron Williams was floored when told of his teammates performance. “He had 29 in a quarter,” he asked.
“Oh my God.”
“I got a good look, got separation,” Johnson said after the game. “I just let it go. I was in the right spot a lot of times, at the right times, catching the ball with the seams every time in the right place.”
He finished the game with a team high 37 points on 10 of 13 shooting. He made ten three pointers in the game in the Nets’ 130-94 victory.
Winners of three of their last four games, Brooklyn executed well in last nights win with potent ball movement and solid shooting. They shot 60 percent in the contest. Andray Blatche scored 20 points, Paul Pierce and Alan Anderson scored 14 and 13 points respectively. Deron Williams finished the game with 13 points and 13 assists.
Brook Lopez sat out of last nights action—his second straight miss since spraining his ankle last week against the Los Angeles Clippers. Mirza Teletovic started at power forward for Brooklyn which moved Kevin Garnett moved to the 5-spot. Teletovic scored 11 points in his first career start.
The Nets are off today. They’ll play the Washington Wizards (10-13) at the Barclays Center tomorrow. Washington is coming off of a 102-101victory against the New York Knicks (7-17) at Madison Square Garden last night.
