Popular Brand Of Family Entertainment Declares 24/7 Streaming Service
It’s no secret that people consume television in a lot of more innovate ways than when TVs first became widely popular in the 1940s. Streaming networks like Hulu Plus, Netflix and HBO GO have become mainstays in the 21st century by engaging viewers with popular shows broadcast on traditional outlets as well as with original content that you can’t find anywhere else.
With the New Year still freshly upon us, Vince McMahon and his WWE are throwing their hat in the proverbial ring with the announcement of the launch of the WWE Network: a 24/7 live, streaming platform that will feature the company’s monthly pay-per-view events, weekly televised programming, and original programming, as well as over 1,500 hours of video on demand.
“Today is a historic day for WWE as we transform and reimagine how we deliver our premium live content and 24/7 programming directly to our fans around the world,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & CEO, of the endeavor at a press conference held in Las Vegas. “WWE Network will provide transformative growth for our company and unprecedented value for our fans.”
Sin City is playing host to the annual Consumer Electronics Show this week. The yearly technology trade show was the perfect opportunity for WWE to announce the network, which will be available online as well as on a plethora of mobile devices including Amazon’s Kindle Fire devices; Android devices such as Samsung Galaxy; iOS devices such as Apple iPad and iPhone; Roku streaming devices; Sony PlayStation 3 and Sony PlayStation 4; and Xbox 360.
Mr. McMahon shared the stage with wrasslin’ legends Triple H, Shawn Michaels, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and John Cena who playfully engaged the media in attendance while helping to introduce the features that the network will provide.
The service is set to launch on Monday, February 24th at 11:05 pm.
