Tommy and Chucky have seen better days.
As is true in the case of many child actors, after the fame diminishes drug addiction can become real issue. Artist Paul Ribera portrays a dark depiction of this unfortunate trend using many beloved 90′s cartoon characters in his latest series. A wide-eyed Johnny Bravo is seen snorting coke, the PowerPuff Girls are salivating with molly on their tongues, Dexter and Dee “break bad” as meth chefs, and the jawbreaker bandits Ed, Double D and Eddy are on a euphoric crack high — which is probably the least hard to believe.
The inspiration for Ribera’s macabre images came out of his desire to represent “life’s struggle” and “how it’s not all Kim & Kanye” for many Americans, he told Huffington Post. “I decided to go as dark as hell with it and let the popular images the world knows turn into what I’ve seen on a daily basis for the past twenty years.”
