Sometimes some players are highly regarded as top prospects and can’t miss players, but sometimes those can’t miss turn out to be bust and never turn out to be the players they were expected to be.

While todays draft doesn’t look to be too deep, there have been other draft classes who weren’t so deep but some teams pick wisely, while every pick isn’t guaranteed to be a game changer some turn out to be just bust. And over the years we’ve seen NBA players come and go. Lets see what players should have tried harder to stay in the NBA.

Jay Williams

Year: 2002

Draft pick: #2

As a rookie Williams put together a decent rookie season having season averages of  9.5 points and 4.7 assists per game. Not bad for a rookie on a rebuilding team. With good on the court decision making, Williams was on course on having a strong NBA career., until his decision off the court sidelined the point guard for good. In 2003 Williams crashed his motorcycle into a stop sign, he attempted a come back in 2006 with the New Jersey Nets but was cut. These days you can caught the former NBA point guard on ESPN’s college game as an analyst.
